Memories Are Important

How many times have you heard a song on the radio that brings you back to a childhood memory? I know it's happened to me more time than I can count. And how many times have you looked at a picture and more of those wonderful memories come flooding back to you?

Memories are important, and they can help get you out of a bad mood or from feeling down. Yes, some memories aren't pleasant, but those aren't the memories I'm writing about here. I'm talking about the memories of you and your cousins at the beach during summer vacation. The times at college with friends that have since move to the other side of the country, but that you sill call once a month. Memories of your children doing silly things, or memories of your pets with a big smile on their happy to see you faces.

As we get older, sometimes our memories aren't as good as they once were. Sometimes people need to be reminded of the things they used to do, the people the enjoyed being with, and the places they liked to visit. Memory reminders help many people with depression, anxiety, and loneliness.

Remember the "Old Man Of The Mountain"? Thousands of people from all over the world used to travel to New Hampshire every year to see him. Now, you can only see him in pictures, because on May 3, 2003 it crumbled and fell. Nothing lasts forever, except memories, and even those are fragile.

One way to keep memories alive is through pictures. Hanging pictures on your walls, standing on bookshelves or other furniture, and workplace desks is a great way to constantly have your memories right in front of you at all times.
